Robert E. Kinning

BACKGROUND:     Bob Kinning, President and owner of Expert Mechanical Services, has over 40 years experience in the mechanical contracting industry.  A native of eastern Nebraska, Mr. Kinning began working in his father’s plumbing, heating, and electrical business at a very young age, receiving his Journeyman plumbing license in 1972 after completing the U. S. Dept. of Labor’s accredited apprenticeship program.  Since then he has held Master plumbing licenses in several states and is currently licensed in all Colorado front range cities and several mountain towns. 

EXPERIENCE:        Mr. Kinning initially worked in the mechanical contracting trade on various jobsites as an apprentice, journeyman, and project superintendent.  As his skills and knowledge grew, he became an estimator, project manager, area manager, special projects division manager, business development manager, construction manager, contract manager, and finally, vice-president of two large contracting and mechanical engineering firms.  In 1989 he started Expert Mechanical Services.

 AFFILIATIONS:       Mr. Kinning served as a member of the Colorado Business Advisory Council under the appointment of Governor Roy Romer in 1997 and as Co-Chairman of the Business Advisory Council for the National Republican Congressional Committee in 1998.

                                    The American Subcontractors’ Association (ASA) awarded Expert Mechanical Services the ASA Colorado Subcontractor of the Year Award in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999.  In 2000 Mr.  Kinning and Expert Mechanical Services became the first subcontractor in Colorado inducted into the “Colorado Subcontractor Hall of Fame."

DUTIES:                   Mr. Kinning brings years of experience and wisdom to the mechanical contracting industry. His involvement includes conceptual budgeting, design/build estimating, and business development; in addition, his "hands on" management style makes him an ideal leader.
